Cancellations made less than 2 hours before your scheduled time may incur a 50% cancellation fee or forfeit any prepaid session.

1. Informed Consent & Acknowledgment

I understand that massage therapy is a therapeutic treatment involving physical touch and may include techniques such as soft tissue manipulation, trigger point therapy, and passive stretching, depending on the treatment goals discussed.

I acknowledge the following:

• I will inform my therapist of any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or sensitivities prior to treatment.

• Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment, diagnosis, or medications.

• My therapist does not diagnose illness, disease, or any physical or mental disorder.

• I have disclosed all relevant health information to my therapist and will update them of any changes before future sessions.

• I will communicate any discomfort, pain, or concern during the treatment so adjustments can be made.
  

2. Contraindications & Risks

I understand that there are certain conditions and situations where massage may not be appropriate, including but not limited to:

• Infectious or contagious diseases

• Recent surgery or injuries

• Pregnancy (without consent from my healthcare provider)

• Certain cardiovascular or neurological conditions
  

I acknowledge that failure to disclose health conditions may increase my risk of injury or adverse effects from treatment.

3. Liability Release

I hereby voluntarily release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Handwork Studio and my therapist from any and all liability, claims, or demands arising from any injury, illness, loss, or damages sustained during or after my massage treatment, except in the case of gross negligence or misconduct.

Handwork Studio – Infrared Sauna Waiver & Consent

Please read carefully before using the infrared sauna at Handwork Studio.

Infrared saunas are generally safe for most people; however, certain health conditions may increase risks. This waiver ensures you understand how to use the sauna safely and acknowledge responsibility for your own wellbeing.

1. General Information

The infrared sauna at Handwork Studio is provided as a wellness and relaxation service only. It is not a medical treatment, and our practitioners do not diagnose, treat, or advise on medical conditions.

If you are unsure whether infrared sauna use is safe for you, please consult your GP or healthcare provider before your session.

2. Who Should Not Use an Infrared Sauna

Infrared sauna use may not be suitable for individuals with the following:

Medical Conditions

• Cardiovascular issues, including:

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • Low blood pressure or fainting history

  • Heart disease, arrhythmia, previous heart attack
    

• Respiratory conditions worsened by heat

• Fever, infections or acute illness

• Hemophilia or bleeding disorders

• Multiple sclerosis (heat sensitivity)

• Conditions that impair your ability to sweat

• Metal implants that may heat excessively

• Recent surgical procedures

• Pregnancy (any trimester)

• Those taking medications that impair sweating (e.g., anticholinergics)
  

Medications & Substances

Do not use the sauna if you are:

• Taking alcohol or recreational drugs

• Using medications that increase sensitivity to heat

• Using diuretics, barbiturates or beta-blockers without medical approval

3. Risks of Infrared Sauna Use

By signing below, you understand that potential risks include, but are not limited to:

• Dehydration

• Dizziness or fainting

• Heat exhaustion or heat stroke

• Skin irritation or burns (rare)

• Aggravation of pre-existing medical conditions

• Light-headedness after standing or exiting

You understand you should:

• Stay hydrated

• Exit the sauna immediately if feeling unwell

• Avoid using the sauna under the influence of drugs or alcohol

• Use the sauna at your own pace and comfort
  

4. Personal Responsibility

You acknowledge that:

• You have disclosed any relevant medical conditions to Handwork Studio.

• You are not relying on Handwork Studio or any staff for medical advice.

• You will follow all instructions regarding safe sauna use.

• You will report any discomfort or stop using the sauna if needed.
  

5. Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted under Australian law, you:

• Assume full responsibility for your use of the infrared sauna.

• Release Handwork Studio, its owners, and staff from any liability for injuries, health issues, or complications that may arise from sauna use.

• Agree that your participation is voluntary, and you may stop at any time.

Nothing in this waiver excludes guarantees or rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) where they cannot be legally excluded.

6. Consent & Agreement

You confirm that:

• You have read and understood this waiver.

• You are 18 years or older (or have a parent/guardian sign).

• You understand the risks of infrared sauna use.

You agree to use the sauna responsibly and within your own health limitations.
